I’m a morning person who hates mornings. It might sound ridiculous to you, but let me explain.
I enjoy waking up having coffee, getting an early start on the day, cooking a big breakfast, and looking out my window to watch the sunrise…I said I enjoy it, but it rarely happens this way.
My usual morning goes a lil something like this…
Beep Beep!!! annoying alarm goes off while it’s pitch black outside..I hit snooze and say ooh damn, it’s morning already. I’m paranoid about oversleeping, so I just lay there waiting for the snooze alarm to go off….stupid I know…been doing it for years and it makes no sense to me still.
I go wake up my son year get him started on his morning routine….then I go get myself together. As I browse through my yoga pants selection, and comb my hair…brush my teeth..I usually have to check on my son who most likely has climbed back in bed or is standing up asleep at his sink….
Once we are dressed we run downstairs grab breakfast, backpack, coffee and out the door…then I remember I have to run back upstairs and wake up my daughter who moves slow as the speed of nothing. She takes like 2 hours to get ready and I’m not exaggerating .
Meanwhile I’m walking my son to the bus stop….in the dark because the bus comes before 6:30 a.m….no sunlight just the sounds of creatures and water sprinklers going off as we hustle to the bus stop. This usually goes smooth because he is a creature of habit..rewind..I left out the part when my son thinks mornings are his perfect opportunity to get in trouble. Either by sneaking action figures in his backpack, grabbing 400 Pokemon cards, or doing something to throw me off my game. Ok let’s go!
Ok so kid# 1 is off on the bus now let’s go back to the house and see if kid #2 has opted to get back in bed..or do something completely NON morning related like change her nail polish before she actually starts getting ready for school. (not kidding this is my life)
It’s been an hour since my son has left and she will most likely be still in the shower or she realized she needs a clean jersey or shorts so now she is washing one item in the washing machine….I can’t make this stuff up.
Eventually we leave the house and I drop her off to school and it’s back to work for the next 8 hours.
I wish there was an easier way to start my day, what kinds of morning stunts do your kids pull?
Is there an easier way deal with morning madness?
