Where ya’ been?

I’m Keya and I’m addicted to postcards.

We didn’t travel much growing up, but the few places we went, l always bought myself a postcard. It was my way of keeping a little memory of my adventure.

Most of the time it was N.Y., CT,  Las Vegas, Palm Springs, or local amusement parks. It didn’t matter to me, I was super excited to have another postcard for my collection. I used to keep them in a shoebox hidden up in my closet.

It’s not the same as collecting spoons, shot glasses, or coins..it’s way better. Yeah I said it my postcards 1up other collections!!?? Where do you even store a shot glass collection??!

Fast forward to my later adult  years… I settled into my new office space (cubicle)and put up a hand full of my favorite postcards and a family photo. I’m not sure who asked about my postcards but it immediately struck up a full conversation about travel, vacations and my love for postcards.

I found myself surrounded by a bunch of people who did more traveling than most pilots. Some people would actually find a stamp and mail them back, but most of the time people would grab them and bring them back. Either way they arrived I was grateful.

As time went on, the collection grew…and grew and before I knew it I hit 175 postcards and still counting…..

Did you know you could get a wooden postcard made in Alaska and mail it like a regular piece of mail??!!! When this came in the mail, I was pretty impressed.

I’ve also received some cool postcards that were created directly from smartphone apps. You take a photo and the app magically sends a postcard via us postal service for a minimal fee??!! Technology is so amazing.

So rather you use an app, or keep it old skool and just bring the postcard home, no matter how you do it remember to grab one on your next trip….unless it was a bad trip….then you need to erase any memories of the trip all together. Like the time we went to Vegas and we were almost positive our room has the recent scene of an episode of CSI…stained up sheets, disgusting bathroom and a smell of liquor and smoke…wait that could be any room in Vegas….hmmm

Happy Travels wherever you go!
