Bug bites and baby oil

Since it’s summer and I know most people are spending more time outdoors including me. I had a flashback of last summer when I was viciously attacked by sneaky nasty  mosquitoes.

We had just come in from sitting outside for a hours enjoying warmer weather and right before bed I felt itchy on my feet, legs, arms..basically my whole body had mosquito bites all over.

I tried alcohol, not rum or tequila, but the kind from the pharmacy and it wasn’t helping just burning and irritating my skin.

I quickly started asking for advice from my friends and some of the responses were helpful and some were “questionable” but  I was desperate so I was trying basically anything they told me.

“Just try lavender it’s all natural”….. Let’s conquer the natural healing on another day..not today.

“Put a frozen spoon on them” …umm when I did that in high school for other reasons it didn’t work but whatever.

“Take Tussin”…I’m not coughing but ok… how did Tussin become the heal all miracle juice??!!

“Cocoa butter” My mom thinks this is the answer to everything??!!

“Put clear nail polish on them” Hmmm making them shiny but of course my polish had glitter in it because I’m super extra…but it’s all I had.

I had nothing to loose, so I started trying any and everything and well believe it or not the clear nail polish did take the itch away!

Now the itchiness stopped but the the pain was still there. I decided to try Neosporin with pain relief since we keep this in the house because my kids are very active and someone is always getting hurt. Neosporin helped tremendously with the pain.

So as I searched Pinterest for ways to  keep the bug away, and I came across the best repellent ever……

Ladies and gentlemen allow me to introduce you to creamy baby oil.

Guess what I found it right at dollar tree! Yes ya’ll the magic potion cost $1 for the body to be protected from those nasty giant sized mosquitoes, killer gnats and whatever else lurks in the summer months.

I get paranoid when stuff is too good, so I buy 10 bottles at a time and my whole family uses it during warm months to keep the bus away and we smell like babies. I keep a bottle in the car, and we take it to the waterpark, pool, or basically anyplace their could be bugs.

Now I’ll still spray Off or Deet when I’m outside sitting for long periods of time, but the creamy baby oil works wonders as a preventative.

I also keep those big repellent candles lit up and like 6 tiki.torches…but those must be carefully watched so unless I’m outside I won’t light  anything with fire since kids can’t be trusted around fire.

I hope you are all enjoying the warmer summer temps and protect yourselves from those pesky bugs!

We are only a few weeks into summer, so tell me what kinds of Bug preventative’s have worked for you? I’m always willing to try something new., that doesn’t cost a ton of money, or I have to subscribe to 5 gallons of stuff a month, or have to wait 6 weeks for delivery.

Thanks Ya’ll
